Soundright Media offers a range of media training courses covering various aspects of dealing with media outlets. Each course is individually created and designed according to your specific needs.
All coaching sessions are available on a one-to-one or group basis. We prefer to run small groups so that each person gets to do as many mock interviews/presentations as possible.
With plenty of practise and instructive feedback built into our training, we ensure you will be confident and informed in your future encounters with the media.
As an example, some of your spokespeople may want a course which mixes interview training with some techniques in giving presentations to live audiences; or you may want the training to be prepared for your spokespeople to tackle a particular issue or cover a specific event – especially if it’s a potentially controversial matter.
Our current available courses:
Learn useful interview preparation techniques – how to get your messages across in the most effective and powerful manner. How best to handle awkward or aggressive questions, use interview control techniques, non-verbal communication and learn message delivery techniques. As the session progresses the mock television, radio and print interviews get tougher – allowing each participant to refine and develop their interview skills in a safe and confidential environment with feedback and analysis of each interview.
Develop your confidence and ability to make powerful and effective presentations. This course covers presentation techniques including persuasive speaking, voice projection and body language as well as how best to plan and prepare. Practise your new skills in a safe and supportive environment with feedback and analysis.
Refresh and invigorate the key messages your organisation wants to communicate to its target audiences. This coaching will sure your spokespeople give a confident and consistent performance whatever the situation. We will work with your team to create new phrases, descriptions, statements which energise and empower what you want to say. The work will provide the basis for a reference document detailing your organisation’s agreed responses to FAQ’s, including controversial or awkward issues. Messages and statements will be ‘stress tested’ in mock interviews.
How to prepare for and deal with potential crises. When the worst happens, make sure you have a detailed plan in place for how to handle the media. We’ll show you what to say and what not to say when communicating with the outside world in a crisis situation – crisis interview techniques and all-important do’s and don’ts. Sessions include mock crisis scenarios for people to practice their skills and be prepared.
Develop your understanding of how the media works and learn how to pitch your news and feature stories to TV, radio and print journalists. The course will cover current and upcoming issues in your area of expertise which may attract media attention and we help you to think like a journalist.
What we need from you
To make sure each course matches the needs and requirements of those attending we ask each participant to complete a brief pre-training questionnaire.
This tells us their principal objectives in attending the training programme, how often they deal with the media or do presentations and whether there are any specific areas they want their session to address.
We provide our own professional broadcast equipment. All we need from you is a room to train in and a car parking space if possible.
